Galena, Idaho Mountain Bike Trails
While in Ketchum, we kept hearing about Galena as a great mountain bike trail system so we decided to make it a stop on the way up to Redfish lake.
Galena is about 24 miles North of Sun Valley/Ketchum and isn’t exactly a town. It’s a stop, but an amazing stop if you’re a cyclist, hiker or a cross country skier. That is because of the Galena Lodge. This cute little lodge offers coffee, breakfast, lunch and …. beer and ice cream!
Galena Lodge: How to get there
If you’re a mountain biker, you’re really in heaven because there is a great network of mountain biking trails that start right out of the lodge and you can park in the lodge parking lot while you ride.
After your ride, they have a courtesy bike wash area, complete with different brushes, a bucket, dry cloth and even instructions on how to wash your bike.
The lodge also has a great bike shop that offers bike rentals, bike repair items and have some clothing and bike accessories as well.
Julie wanted a shirt and I wanted ice cream but we didn’t plan our ride well and got back at 5 pm, unfortunately the lodge closes at 4 ?. Don’t let this happen to you!
About the mountain bike ride, we did almost all the trails in the network, full routes posted here, our personal favorite was the finishing downhill of Spring Creek Trail. You can ride the road back or cross the road to take Harriman trail which is a double track trail multi use with some beautiful views. NOTE: you have to cross a creek to get to the trail that WILL get your feet wet. It’s also a lot more up and down compared to the road. Good option if you’re exhausted or cutting it close to the 4 PM ?….
